My MCAS + EFT Story

My symptoms started in 2012. After a long and winding journey filled with ever-changing symptoms, multiple flares, and misdiagnoses of IBS and depression/anxiety, in 2023 I was finally diagnosed with MCAS and histamine intolerance, caused by mold, Lyme’s, babesia, and good old genetics. I was also diagnosed with endometriosis, which was mistaken for several years as IBS. My worst MCAS symptoms were fatigue so bad I couldn’t take a shower without taking a nap after and violently vomiting almost every time I ate. Some of the weirder symptoms were internal trembling and light sensitivity and feeling like I had bugs crawling inside my skin. It took me so long to get to a place where I could begin healing, and along the way, I picked up a lot of resentment toward friends, family, and medical professionals. My social life, dating and relationships, family life, career, and hobbies were all negatively affected. As many people with chronic illness know, the hardest part isn’t the physical symptoms, but dealing with the people in your life who don’t believe you and the terrible isolation that comes with that.

It couldn’t have been anything but synchronicity that I found acupuncture the same year my symptoms started due to mold exposure, and EFT the year after I was almost fully bedridden thanks to Lyme’s and babesia. EFT tapping helped me:

  • cope with the emotional aspects of being misdiagnosed including the pain of losing friends, the loneliness, the clashes with my family who didn’t believe me, the stress of losing my ability to function in my career

  • remove cravings for processed food and other foods that triggered my histamine intolerance

  • remove money blocks to help fund my treatment

  • set and keep goals to follow a therapeutic diet and a restorative exercise plan

  • reduce social anxiety and public speaking anxiety

  • improve performance

  • reduce brain fog and improve energy

  • reduce allergic symptoms

  • calm my nervous system

  • fall back asleep after having late-night insomnia

  • find the right medical professionals by removing blocks and releasing old and unhelpful patterns

Reviews

  • “Really, I feel so much better and far less tense. I've even been able to establish better boundaries in my life with relationships. That's always been pretty tricky for me. I feel like I owe you way more than the session cost. Just wanted to tell you how grateful I am.”

  • I highly recommend Ellen Feldman, EFT practitioner. The sessions that I have done with Ellen allowed me to connect with a younger part of myself that was empowering, enlightening and magical in how it allowed me to heal and have a more cohesive sense of self. She is very professional, practical and thoroughly enjoyable to work with for both complex and simple health matters.
